A quiz night held at South Downs Nurseries has raised £200 for a local hospice. Tates of Sussex Garden Centres invited employees, friends and family to participate in the quiz after the centre had closed for the evening.

Twelve teams of six attended, each paying a registration fee to take part, to raise funds for St Peter and St James Hospice. The quiz night was held to help replace sponsorship money raised by staff at the sponsored Firewalk, held at Plumpton Racecourse in March this year, which was sadly stolen from the garden centre before it could be given to the hospice. “We work closely with St Peter and St James, and it was heart-breaking telling them that the money raised by our fire walkers had been stolen.” Says Steve Parsons, Branch Manager, “We knew we couldn’t let them go without, so we held the quiz night to help raise this money again.”

St Peter and St James Hospice is located in Chailey, near Lewes, providing hospice care to adults living in the surrounding area. They also support families and friends of patients through the challenges of bereavement and grief.
