South Downs Nurseries has had a dedicated book sales area in conjunction with The Burgess Hill District Lions since 2013. For the last five years, visitors have been donating unwanted books to the collection box at the front of the garden centre. These have been sold for £1 each, raising vital funds for local projects. The total funds raised have now exceeded £12,000. Garden Centre Manager, Steve Parsons said, ‘Thank you to all our customers who continue to donate their unwanted books for us to sell on behalf of The Burgess Hill Lions. It’s fantastic to hear that we’ve raised more than £12,000 and that this money will be spent supporting good causes in our local community.’
