Local artist Grant Dejonge has risen from the ashes of his recent studio fire by revamping damaged pieces for 'Into the Black' art exhibition in The CUBE Gallery.

Taking inspiration from Kintsugi – the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with precious metals – adding gold leaf to damaged frames, painting over blackened areas and around holes in the canvas and even framing one piece in a burnt out window frame from the studio, each piece now tells its own new and unique story – with a pinch of the artist’s good humour, proof of his efforts to make the best of an unfortunate situation.

Grant Dejonge’s work is available to view and purchase in the free art exhibition ‘Into the Black’, in The CUBE Gallery at the South Downs Heritage Centre, until the 5th August.
