South Downs Nurseries in Hassocks donated pots and compost to the 5th Burgess Hill Brownies, who surprised their Mums with handmade Mother’s Day gifts on Sunday. Each Brownie hand painted a terracotta pot and planted it up to make a unique and personal gift for Mum.

Snowy Owl, Zena Cope, was thrilled with the donation “we only enquired about a possible discount as all our activities are self-funded, but to have the pots and compost donated was so very generous. A big thank you to Steve the manager for making this such an enjoyable activity.”

The Brownie group are returning to South Downs Nurseries in April for a free nursery tour with plant manager David Finn, to teach the girls how to take care of plants at home and give them an insight to how the large nursery operates. The garden centre also plans to host activities in order for the group to complete a number of badges.
