Garden Centre Branch Manager

Job Description: We are looking for a Branch Manager for one of our Sussex based Garden Centres. The successful applicant will be responsible for the general site management and the efficient & profitable operation of the garden centre, working closely with group buyers and Directors. This varied role will also have plenty of hands on time based on the shop floor delivering our high standards of shop presentation and customer service.

Previous Experience: Previous management experience at a similar level is essential.

Duration: Full time with weekend working rota

Plant Area Manager - South Downs Nurseries

Assistant Garden Centre Manager

Job Description: We are looking for a Garden Centre Assistant Manager to help support the existing management at one of our Sussex based garden centres. This varied role will include running the store and deputising for the Garden Centre Manager but is also a fully hands on role based mainly on the shop floor delivering our high standards of shop presentation and customer service.

Plant Area Assistant – Mayberry Garden Centre

Job Description: We are looking for a Plant Area Assistant at Mayberry Garden Centre in Portslade. The successful applicant will be working mainly with outside plants, providing care for the stock whilst also delivering excellent customer service.

Part time Admin Assistant - Mayberry Garden Centre

Job Description: This varied role will cover all aspects of our back of house admin, including booking in stock, invoicing, payroll, telephone customer service, assisting the senior management in their roles as well as some occasional customer facing time.

Previous Experience: Ideally the successful candidate will have worked in a retail administration role before, but full training will be given.

Duration: 24 hours per week over 3 or 4 days, with occasional overtime and holiday cover.

Cleaner & Housekeeper - South Downs Nurseries

Job Description: We are looking for a hardworking and reliable person to work 25 hours a week (5 hours a day) cleaning our busy garden centre and working up to 2 days a week, when required, with our housekeeping team to deliver an exceptional level of cleaning at our 5* luxury holiday lodges adjacent to South Downs Nurseries.

Previous Experience: Previous cleaning experience preferred but not essential as full training will be given.

Duration: Monday 10:00-3pm, Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday 8:30-1:30, Friday 10-3pm. Occasional Saturdays during 2019.

Further Details: This role involves working as part of the cleaning team at our garden centre, but also working as part of our housekeeping team to deliver a high standard of cleaning to prepare our 5* holiday lodges ready for the next guest arrival. The ability to work to a high standard under time pressure is essential. 

This is a physically demanding role. A love of cleaning, an eye for detail and a good sense of humour are essential. We often prepare lodges for special events in people's lives such as weddings, honeymoons, anniversaries and marriage proposals, so this is also a very rewarding role.

Volunteer Elves - South Downs Nurseries charity grotto

Job Description: The Budding Foundation are looking for several new elves to join their team of volunteers, running this year's charity grotto at South Downs Nurseries. 100% of proceeds go to charity, last year raising more than £11,000.

Previous Experience: No previous experience required, but a love of Christmas is essential!

Duration: Weekends and some weekday afternoons in November and December. Even if you only have a few hours to spare, please get in touch!

Salary: This is an unpaid voluntary role
