Mopheads have full round heads of equal-sized flowers and lacecaps have flat heads with tiny flowers in the centre surrounded by larger flowers around the edge. Flowers are generally pink if your plant is growing in neutral to alkaline soil and blue/lilac if grown in acidic soil. Madame Emile Mouillère is actually a white flowered mophead hydrangea and holds an RHS Award of Garden Merit.
