Crocosmia are popular flowering perennials prized for their tall flowering stems with arching tips of flame coloured trumpets. They grow from corms which form new ones every year increasing the size of the clumps. Avoid growing Common Monbretia - Crocosmia x crocosmiiiflora as it is invasive. The named varieties are generally well behaved and being shallow rooted are easily dug up to divide or rein in. They can also be grown in containers. Firestarter has stunning two-tone orange-red and yellow flowers.
