Vermiculite is a natural mineral heated to super-high temperatures creating lightweight, absorbent flakes. When mixed with compost, the flakes increase retention of water and nutrients creating a healthy growing medium, promoting faster and healthier plant growth. Provides good air balance which helps to maintain an even temperature. Vermiculite also possesses 'cation exchange' properties enabling it to hold ammonium, potassium, calcium and magnesium, making them available to growing plants.
This compost additive can be used on its own or mixing 50/50 with compost, ideal for seed germination, pricking out or potting-on, it also decreases the weight in larger pots and containers and improves water retention.
