Micro-porous granules that hold water and nutrients as well as improving aeration and drainage when mixed with soil or compost.
Perlite is a naturally occurring volcanic rock which, when heated to high temperatures produces lightweight, porous granules. When mixed with compost, the granules hold water and nutrients in the compost creating a healthy growing medium and stimulating root development and growth. Bright white in colour, Perlite provides protection against sunlight, it also reflects light under the plants foliage to encourage growth.
This compost additive can be used for seed starting, rooted cuttings, potting-on or planting out. Use alone for seed germination, Perlite's structure will maintain both moisture and temperature levels.
Dampen before use to reduce dust, if using the whole bag add around one litre of water and allow to soak.
