Cornus (Dogwoods) are hardy deciduous shrubs with showy winter stems offering year round interest. Cornus alba Sibirica forms thickets of red stems which turn bright crimson in winter. Small summer flowers loved by butterflies are follwed by white berries loved by birds along with red autumn leaf colour. Once established cut back the oldest one third of stems hard in late winter every year. looks particulalry good with spring bulbs planted underneath.
