This Berberis (aka Japanese Barberry) is a thorny, deciduous shrub, grown for its foliage over its flowers. Berberis ‘Maria’ is a compact, columnar variety, growing towers of vibrant, bright yellow leaves in spring. These turn green in summer before transforming to a flaming orange-red over the autumn. It holds an RHS Award of Garden Merit.
