Papaver orientale 'Allegro' is a cultivar Oriental poppy. 'Allegro' is known for its striking, bright orange-red flowers that are typically 10cm in diameter. The flowers have a distinctive black center and are borne on tall, sturdy stems that can reach up to 90cm in height. The plant produces deeply lobed, hairy leaves that form a basal rosette and can grow up to 60cm in width.
This plant prefers full sun and well-drained soil, and can be propagated by division in the autumn or early spring. Like other Oriental poppies, 'Allegro' is a relatively low-maintenance plant that can add a splash of colour to a garden or border.
