Sambucus nigra 'Black Lace' 12 Litres
Sambucus (Elderberry) are vigorous easy to grow wildlife friendly shrubs and trees with beautiful corymbs of white flowers in late spring to early summer followed by small black berries. Both the flowers and berries are good for making cordials and alcoholic drinks but cannot be eaten raw. Black Lace has deep purple almost black foliage and pinkish flowers and a coveted RHS Award of Garden Merit. Its foliage is deeply dissected creating a lacy effect. Grows well in most good soils but also thrives on chalk.
