Aubrieta is a genus of flowering plants native to southern Europe and central Asia and are commonly known as rock cresses or wall cresses. They are low-growing and form a mat of evergreen foliage that is covered in small, colourful flowers in shades of purple, pink, blue, and white. They are a popular choice for rock gardens, groundcover, and for planting in walls and crevices. Most species of Aubrieta are hardy and prefer well-drained soil and full sun to partial shade. They are rated hardy from RHS H5 to H7, which means they can withstand temperatures as low as -10 to -20 degrees Celsius.
