Heterorhabditis bacteriophora are microscopic nematodes/worms that prey on vine weevil larvae and chafer grubs. They are suitable for organic growing.
Vine weevil feed on over 200 species of plants and is a common pest particularly in patio pots and containers. The adult beetles are nocturnal and leave characteristic notch shapes around the edges of leaves. The larvae live in the soil and eat the roots. Often the first sign is when the plant suddenly wilts and even comes away in your hand.
Adults generally emerge around May to July and begin to lay eggs which develop in the soil. With recent milder winters however larvae may be present at any time.
Simply mix with water and apply to the soil around the plants you want to protect. Use a coarse rose, keep the soil moist for the next two weeks.
