Hypoaspis miles are microscopic predatory mites which hunt and eat a range of soil dwelling pests including sciarid fly eggs and larvae (fungus gnats), shorefly and thrips pupae. They are suitable for us in greenhouses, indoor pot plants and seedling trays. Hypoaspis miles, also known as Stratiolaelaps scimitus, is a species found naturally in the UK.
Moist soil required for healthy plant growth is an ideal environment for pest insects such as sciarid fly, fungus gnats, shorefly and thrips pupae to live. Fly larvae can feed on young plants and roots reducing the plant vigour and increasing the risk of disease. The adults are a nuisance flying around in your home.
The mites are easy to apply, simply scatter the pack contents over the soil. Safe for children, wildlife and pets.
