Steinernema carpocapsae are beneficial microscopic nematodes which infect and kill box moth caterpillars. It is a natural predator of a range of caterpillars. It should be used once box moth caterpillars have infested a Buxus bush not before.
Box moths are a devastating pest of Buxus (box bush). A heavy caterpillar infestation is able to completely consume all of the green leaves to a point where the plant may not recover. Box moth pheromone traps are able to catch and kill adult moths, however this still leaves the caterpillars feeding on the bushes. Steinernema carpocapsae are a natural solution for controlling an increasingly important pest as box moth spreads through gardens across the UK.
Mix the sachet of nematodes in water according to the packet instructions and spray over the infested Buxus bushes. The nematodes require a layer of water on the foliage to move and infect the caterpillars.
