Spring Onion 'Red Apache' Strip Pack
3 FOR £10
Spring Onion Red Apache is a variety of onion that produces small, slender bulbs with a bright red skin and a mild, sweet flavour. This variety is perfect for adding a pop of colour and flavour to salads, stir-fries, and other dishes. It is a fast-growing, hardy plant that produces clusters of slender, white stems that are around 25cm in length.
Red Apache onions are relatively easy to grow. They prefer rich, well-drained soil and require regular watering to ensure good growth. The plant can be harvested when the stems are around 15cm in length, or left to mature to a larger size. As they are in the garden for such a short time, they can also be grown in between slower growing vegetables thereby saving space for other crops.
Not only are they a versatile and flavourful addition to many dishes, but they also offer several nutritional benefits. Spring onions contain beneficial sulphur compounds that possess antibacterial and antiseptic properties. They're also high in antioxidants, such as quercetin and anthocyanin, as well as Vitamin C, calcium, and iron.
