Beetroot 'Golden Boldor' Strip Pack
3 FOR £10
Beetroot is a great crop for beginner gardeners as it is easy to grow and offers a range of uses. The roots come in various shapes and colours, ranging from dark purple-red to pink, yellow, and even white. The best time to harvest the roots is when they are young, no bigger than a golf ball. They can be eaten pickled, roasted, or grated and used in salads. The leaves of the beetroot can also be harvested, with younger greens suitable for salads and older greens blanched like spinach.
Beetroot 'Boldor' is a yellow-fleshed variety of beetroot, also known as golden beetroot. This variety is particularly known for its smooth texture, sweet, mild flavour and bright, vibrant colour.
One of the advantages of growing 'Boldor' is that it does not 'bleed' like red beetroot, meaning that it does not release as much colour when cooked. This makes it a great choice for use in salads, as it will not stain other ingredients. It is also a popular choice for roasting, as its sweet flavour is enhanced by the caramelization process.
Sow a short row of seeds every three weeks for a regular supply throughout summer and autumn.
