Cossé Violette' is a climbing French bean variety known for its attractive appearance and delicious flavour. The plants produce abundant, long, slender, purple pods that are around 15cm long and are best harvested when young and tender.The beans have a rich, nutty flavour with a creamy texture. They can be eaten fresh, cooked or used in a variety of dishes such as soups, stews, salads and casseroles.
'Cossé Violette' is a vigorous grower and can reach a height of up to 2 metres, so it requires sturdy support. It is easy to grow and prefers a sunny location with well-drained soil.
