Tomato Roma, also known as Italian Plum Tomato, is a popular, bright red variety of tomato that is widely used for cooking, salads and pizza topping. The fruit of Roma tomatoes is oblong in shape, with a thick, meaty flesh and few seeds. Tomatoes are a good source of vitamins A and C, as well as potassium and lycopene.
Roma tomatoes are relatively easy to grow and are suitable for both outdoor and greenhouse cultivation. They prefer well-drained, fertile soil and full sun exposure. The plants should be watered regularly and provided with support, such as stakes or cages, to prevent the heavy crops from breaking the stems.
