Laxton is a traditional old favourite with a strong upright growth habit and heavy yielding characteristics, producing high-quality fruits in long bunches of medium-sized crimson berries. It is also the most mildew-resistant variety available. Laxton flowers later than most redcurrants, thereby avoiding late frosts. The branches will spread and become more open with maturity, and it is a good variety for all purposes. Laxton is self-fertile.
