Penstemon are elegant easy to grow perennials which produce spires of tubular flowers through the summer months. They add vertical interest to gardens and flower beds.
Penstemons thrive in full sun and well-drained soil. They are evergreen so retain some interest over winter. In the spring after the frosts have passed cut last years stems down to the new growth low down.
Penstemon 'Husker Red' has deep burgandy young foliage with pure white flowers oncontrasting red stems.
