Agave americana 3 Litres
Agave americana, also known as the American century plant, is a large succulent plant native to Mexico and the southwestern United States. It is characterised by its large rosette of fleshy blue-green leaves with sharp spines along the edges and a sharp point at the tip.
The plant produces a tall flower spike that can reach up to 9 meters in height, bearing yellow-green flowers that bloom only once before the plant dies. However this occurs very rarely - hence its name century plant.
Agave americana thrives in well-draining soil and full sun. It is drought-tolerant and can be grown in hot and dry climates. However, it is not cold-tolerant and should be protected from freezing temperatures, particularly from winter wet. It is perfect for a pot that can be brought under cover or planted in a gravel garden. Holds an RHS Award of Gardfen Merit.
