Known as the Wedding Cake Tree for its distinctive horizontal tiered habit, Cornus controversa 'Variegata' is a deciduous tree perfect for a medium sized garden. It will make a beautiful specimen or focal point. The foliage is green with cream edging and it bears flat clusters of small cream flowers in summer followed by black fruits. In autumn the leaves put on a good show before falling, giving another season of interest. Grow in moist but well-drained neutral to acidic soil. Pruning is not required. Cornus controversa 'Variegata' holds an RHS Award of Garden Merit.
