Privet is an upright semi-evergreen shrub commonly used as hedging. It is easy to clip but if left unpruned it becomes a shaggy tree. Pollinators love the small white fragrant flowers in early summer. The cultivar Aureum has rich yellow leaves which are sometimes variegated and holds an RHS Award of Garden Merit.
