The new fronds of Blechnum spicant emerge narrow and upright but as they mature they become wider and semi-horizontal, forming a lovely rosette shape. Being evergreen it provides year round interest for a shady spot in moist neutral to acidic soil. Mulch well with compost or leafmould and remove dead frons in spring. It holds an RHS Award of Garden Merit.
