Muscari armeniacum 'Peppermint' 10.5cm
4 FOR £10
Muscari armeniacum, also known as grape hyacinth, is a popular spring-flowering bulb that produces dense spikes of small, bell-shaped flowers in shades of blue, from pale baby blue to deep indigo. 'Peppermint' has pale blue to white flowers. The flowers are tightly packed together, forming a compact and strikingly beautiful cluster on top of each stem. The leaves are narrow and strap-like, and grow up to 20cm tall.
Grape hyacinths are very easy to grow and are ideal for naturalizing in rock gardens, borders, or under deciduous trees. They thrive in full sun to partial shade, and require well-drained soil. They are hardy and can withstand cold temperatures down to -20°C. They will bloom in late winter to early spring and can be left in the ground to naturalize for several years.
