Fun Seed 'Snake Gourd'
Although this is from the same family as pumpkins it is not one you want to eat. Like luffa gourds, snake gourds can be eaten as a vegetable when very young but they both taste rather bland. Leave the gourds to ripen on the plant. As they get older, they become more bitter and their rind turns dark red and harden. When the fruits are harvested and dried you can paint them to make them look like snakes. Fully mature snake gourds are tough enough to be turned into didgeridoos!
