Rhubarb 'Glaskins Perpetual' 3 Litres
Glaskins Perpetual Rhubarb is an excellent all-round variety that establishes quickly and matures early. Its long and tender red stalks are reputed to have the lowest oxalic acid content among all rhubarb varieties. It's also disease-resistant and hardy, making it easy to grow. The plant can be harvested lightly in the first year by snapping or cutting the outer stalks, allowing it to clump up for the following season. Additionally, it's excellent for forcing.
When harvesting, grasp the stalks near the base, give a firm tug, and twist to detach them from the crown. It's recommended to wait until the second year of growth before harvesting to allow the plant to establish itself fully. Plant the Rhubarb crowns about 90-100cm apart.
