Phyllostachys aurea 18 Litres
Phyllostachys aurea, also known as Golden Bamboo or Fishpole Bamboo, is a great option for those looking for a low-maintenance, tall hedge. This bamboo species grows exceptionally fast and its robust growth makes it ideal for creating a screening hedge with good sound reduction qualities.
When grown in full sun, the young green canes gradually turn into attractive lemon-yellow canes with green stripes as they age. With even more sunlight, the canes become a more intense golden-yellow, providing a stunning contrast to the pale, golden-green foliage.
In the UK climate, Golden Bamboo is not as vigorous or spreading as Black Bamboo or Green Bamboo, and it will achieve the same height with very little invasion, mainly clumping rather than running. These plants may take a year or two to fully settle and need to be watered well until they are established. They should be fed every alternate year in late spring after the first shoots have reached full height. Golden Bamboo prefers sun or semi-shade and grows by 60-90 cm per year.
