Hellebores are clump forming perennials with divided leathery green leaves and branched stems rising above with nodding cupshaped flowers in winter to spring. Very useful plants for any early emerging pollinators. Plant in partial shade in fertile moist but well drained soil. Ideal for planting under deciduous trees and shrubs. Viv Victoria is a particularly handsome variety with maroon to deep red-purple flowers which face more outwards than many varieties.
