An upright columnar tree that reaches just 3m in 20 years. The flaking grey-green and pale brown bark makes a beautiful winter feature. Look closely for the tiny spidery red flowers in February. In spring the young foliage is rich purple and ages to green with a purple margin. With wonderful autumn colour, this is a tree for all seasons. It prefers acidic soil but is tolerant of chalk.
