The variety Karl Foerster has an RHS Award of Garden Merit. It has a very upright habit and forms tall golden brown stems with feathery plumes in summer. Leave it standing through the winter as it look stunning when it catches the frost. It makes a perfect screening plant to section areas of a garden but also is very effective in groups in a prairie style garden.
