The event, which ran from 10:30am to 12:30pm, raised more than £1000, money that will go towards the upkeep of the historic building. Churchwarden Trevor Butler said ‘The sun shone and everyone enjoyed themselves, digging deep to support us. We had enormous help from so many quarters including a host of businesses which came forward to donate raffle prizes. Of particular note, Paradise Park garden centre in Newhaven heard that we were short of plants this year as our usual grower was unable to help us. They came forward with the most beautiful blooms and ensured that the horticulture stall was one of the most successful on the day’.
