HK Hedgehogs at Mayberry Garden Centre

Event Date: 5th May 2019

Location: Mayberry Garden Centre

To celebrate Hedgehog Awareness Week, which runs from 5-11 May, local rescue HK Hedgehogs will be at Mayberry Garden Centre from 10:30am - 2:30pm on Sunday 5th May. Volunteers will be on hand with an information stand containing photos and tips on how people can help hedgehogs in their gardens by making simple changes to create a hedgehog highway, the initiative from the British Hedgehog Preservation Society, plus some information to hand out together with activities for children to take home.

HK Hedgehogs is very active within the local community, covering Hangleton, Portslade, Southwick, Mile Oak, Shoreham, and have also been involved with community groups in and around Brighton & Hove areas.

HK Hedgehogs was set up over 4 years ago to help and sustain the local hedgehog population by:

  • Engaging with the local community to make hedgehog friendly changes in gardens and community spaces
  • Running awareness events and giving educational talks to local schools and groups
  • Participating in scientific research projects with Brighton University
