The Budding Foundation, a charity that helps young people in Sussex, is set to more than double its total fundraising figure for the coming year after setting up home at the South Downs Heritage Centre in Hassocks. Clive Gravett, a gardening historian and the charity’s founder, set up the Museum of Gardening at the centre which opened in May 2016. Since then, the Heritage Centre has become the major focal point for the charity’s fundraising activities, with visitor donations alone totalling £3,633 last year. Clive said, “Our year ends in October, and in November and December alone, we have already raised almost 40% of last year’s total so we are well on target to double, if not triple, last year’s figure! The Heritage Centre has really helped me put the charity on the map and I would like to thank everyone to has donated to the charity.”

The charity continues to fund young people who are in need of support and recently helped a young woman who had been in care since the age of 12 start a degree course at Brighton University. A large donation to fund ‘Youth Work’ in the Mid-Sussex area has also been agreed. For more information on the charity and how you can support it, visit: www.thebuddingfoundation.co.uk
